Venture 1 holds a couple of Company meetings every year bringing all the team together to discuss relevant topics whether Company, Technical or Sales related. Being an ‘inclusive’ and exciting Company to work for, team members are encouraged to put forward suggestions regarding possible venues and locations. Previous visits have included a trip to Paris and this year Amsterdam was voted for!
An early start from Heathrow was a shock to some but under the careful supervision of Project Co-ordinator, Talia Veerasawmy we all managed to get on the flight in good time. A quick hop over the North Sea followed by taxi to the meeting venue, which proved to be an excellent choice in Amsterdam Oost. With full WiFi connections established back to the London office, those members of the team unable to make the trip were included in an interactive agenda covering key topics throughout the day namely Sustainability and Communications, both seen as critical factors in how Venture1 develops moving forward.
An excellent meal out in the evening sourced by local tour guide, Matt Green, who has worked before in Amsterdam for one of our large London based Law Firm clients was followed by ‘a few libations’ and samples of local brews before wandering the streets and finding ways back to the overnight accommodation, again excellently researched by Talia.
The following day was spent ‘at leisure’ until a return flight at 5PM from Schipol airport which is HUGE! It was a ‘slow start’ for some with only 3 hardcore delegates making it down for breakfast with the others choosing to make the most of the late check out option! ‘Tim’s tours’ then kicked off after some much needed coffee starters with a suggested ‘Canal Tour’ for those keen to see some sights and learn some history of Amsterdam. That proved to be very interesting indeed and a good way to gain an understanding of how the city had developed over time. This was followed by a light lunch outside at one of Amsterdam’s oldest café’s before a taxi back to the airport for the trip home. All in all it was an excellent and productive trip for all concerned and special thanks to Talia for her project management expertise.
