Spotlight On: Tim Spriggs, Sales and Marketing Consultant

Updated: Oct 31, 2022

Continuing on with our monthly 'Spotlight On' story about a member of our team, this month it's the turn of Sales and Marketing Consultant, Tim Spriggs.

What do you do/job role at Venture1

Sales & Marketing Consultant

What attracted you to working at Venture 1?

Having worked with both Mark and Gideon in a previous life their commitment to providing excellent, honest services to the clients we do business with was the number one reason why I chose Venture 1 and the fact that they wanted their team to enjoy what they did was an added bonus! As an experienced Sales and Marketing Consultant, it is most important to me that IF I tell a client, customer or partner that we can do something, I know that we can and will, carry that through and have the skills and expertise to do what is proposed. In my mind, honesty and respect between customer and supplier are critical business factors and having the confidence to know that we’ll deliver what we say we can do is essential in any conversations I have.

What sort of things do you do day-to-day at Venture 1?

Ha lol, a surprisingly varied range tbh! Only this morning I was running an event to promote a local charitable donation drive to re-use or re-purpose old or unwanted equipment for local schools and charities which is something we’re keen on helping the local community with. Day to day, not much goes out without me casting my critical eyes over the content we’re publishing and otherwise, I’m happy to be called upon to provide support to any colleagues who might need or benefit from the many years of sales and marketing experience I can offer! I can always be relied upon to come up with ideas or opinions and never afraid to say or see things as they are, without marketing ‘gloss’ or flowery language! Happy to join any customer calls or meetings and have particular responsibility for our events and new partner programs.

What’s your favourite thing about working at Venture 1?

The people I work with, simple as that. It’s a great team and spirit with an absolute commitment to do the best job we can for the clients and customers we do business with. We’ve got a fantastic new office in Central London right opposite the House of Commons (or maybe ‘Cards’ recently should I say?) which is in a great location and shared with lots of other young and energetic businesses with a range of events and activities organised by our excellent landlords, Workspace. It’s a really enjoyable place to work and to be back in the office after two years of ‘lockdown’ is great and with Venture 1’s adjustment to a ‘hybrid’ model of working, mixing in working from home as well as in person, office/customer/event attendance, gives me great flexibility to accommodate a work/life balance that suits both parties.

If you could invite any 3 people round for dinner who would it be?

1) Lewis Hamilton – to see if he remembers meeting me 15 years ago and ‘discuss’ the end of the 2021 season!

2) David Attenborough – such an advocate of ‘Life on Earth’ that we should all be committed to protect;

3) Peter Kaye – for a laugh!
